2 Years Into the Loc World

So I've made it to two years and I've included pictures of how far my locs have came along.

Group delivers natural hair Barbies to African-American girls

Picture from thegrio.com

COLUMBUS, Ga - Some African-American girls in Columbus got a unique lesson in self esteem this past Friday afternoon.
The Little Ladies Girls Inc. received "natural hair barbie dolls" from a local group of women.
It seemed like a normal day in the Girls, Inc. classroom; however, the girls were in for a big surprise.
Lots of love, learning, and of course laughter followed...

Retwist with Oil and Water

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking through some youtube videos just to compare other peoples locs and my locs for the length in the same time period that I have been growing mine. Well, I came across a video that showed one lady twisting her hair with only tea tree oil and water and wondered if that would work for me. I tried the next day, but I only had the 8 in 1 oil, you know the one that you can use all over your body and mixed that with some water. I had did it the day after I washed my hair so that I could take the time to see if it would work.

Well it did, somewhat... I was able to retwist it and let it try and the roots did stay twisted, but only for a few days. I think that my hair is just too thick in some areas which are still "trying to loc" a bit and it some areas, my hair stayed twisted until I rewashed a couple of days ago. I guess I will stick to my mango and lime gel as that has been working for me from the start.

Has anyone else tried just retwisting their locs with sometime of oil and water?
